"The enigma of your existence is to solve the reason why you are here and distinguish what voices you will listen, and the path you will take to fulfill your destiny."
Dr. Kaemanje S. Thomas
Preparing children for life’s financial responsibilities is one of the most daunting or revolutionary act a parent can ever commit. How caretakers model these skills and knowledge to support those they are charged with taking care of can lead to success or poverty. When children emerge from their cocoons and begin exploring the world around them, the templates provided by their caretakers are essential for survival. Whether a child develops proficiency in these skills in adulthood and beyond is crucial for financial success, personal and career upward mobility or political savvy.
This allegorical story presents a father’s journey of self-reflection. A man seeking to bridge the chasm of generational poverty. His mission is one of financial empowerment and practical education. Knowledge is power, and Kiante represents the key to breaking the generational curse of poverty without inheriting the forty acres and mule promised legacy.

My Father, My Hero is not intended to offer financial advice but to highlight a parent's financial missteps and childhood trauma. Sab's experiences motivate him to become a hero to Kiante, using conversations as a medium to offer practical financial information Sab wished he knew a young adolescent stepping into adulthood. Sab's night chats seek to prepare Kiante for life's impending realities on education, exposing him to financial literacy, and exercising self-control. Someday Kiante will become a man, and at a minimum: he will have access to information from which he can navigate life’s financial terrains without his father's help.
